iOS 8 Direct Download Link

iOS 8 was released at 1AM morning on 18th September 2014, Malaysia local time (GMT+8), and applicable for iPod Touch (5th generation), iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad 2, iPad 3, the new iPad (4th generation), iPad mini, iPad mini with Retina display, and iPad Air.

According to Apple official description on iOS 8:

iOS 8

The world’s most advanced mobile OS. In its most advanced form.

With an easy-to-use interface, amazing features, and security at its core, iOS 8 is the foundation of iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. It’s designed to look beautiful and work beautifully, so even the simplest tasks are more engaging. And because iOS 8 is engineered to take full advantage of the advanced technologies built into Apple hardware, your devices are always years ahead — from day one to day whenever.

There are several methods to update from your current iOS 7 to iOS 8, commonly there are 3 methods, which are:

  1. Over the Air (OTA)
which mean update directly from your current device without iTunes by going to Settings > General > Software Update. By using this method, your device are required to have at least 4.5 to 5GB space. If you’re using 16GB model, it probably bring a little annoyed issue as you’ll have to clean out the space by transferring your files, such as photos to your PC or somewhere else.
  2. Update via iTunes
which mean you connect your device to the latest version of iTunes and press Check for Update to download and update.
  3. Download the .ipsw files from Apple and connect your device to the latest version of iTunes, and press Shift key + Check for Update to select the .ipsw files from the destination folder where you save the .ipsw file.

My preferred method is method no. 3.

Method 1 required large amount of free space and might not be very convenience to me to use it.

Method 2 will encounter frequent failed to download update file alert, if your internet speed is not stable and fast enough, especially during peak period when every iOS users are rush for tasting the iOS 8.
